About Metuchen Musical Theater Summer Camp

Summer 2024 brings a new theater camp to Metuchen, NJ! Fresh Theatre Arts and Ferrell Studios are back to present another musical theater opportunity for students in grades 2-8 at the lovely intimate mignolo Arts Center! Participants will learn audition skills, character building techniques and improv through a variety of games and activities. This mini-camp is perfect for building confidence, making new friends and having fun! Mini-camp results in a showcase! Join for one session or two!

Tova Halpern

Tova Halpern has been a professional Director and theatre arts educator for the past 18 years. Tova graduated with her B.A. in theatre arts from Rutgers University in 2006. While at Rutgers, she revitalized the Hillel Theatre Company, directing and producing for the company four shows in two years. After graduating from Rutgers, Tova went to work on Broadway at Richard Frankel Productions, producers for “Hairspray,” “Stomp” and "Young Frankenstein.” After gaining a true Broadway experience, Tova went back to school and received her Masters in Educational Theater from NYU. With her enthusiasm and love for theater and education, Tova founded "Fresh Theatre Arts."

Veena Steaphen

Veena Steaphen is thrilled to join Ferrell Studios this summer as a Musical Production Intern. Currently 21 years old and a rising senior at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, she is pursuing a degree in Communications in Leadership and Organizations with a minor in Business Administration. Veena's passion for the stage was ignited at a young age, and she has been involved in numerous school theatre productions, including featured singer in Cinderella, In the Heights, Mamma Mia, and The Drowsy Chaperone. Beyond performing, she has delved into stage management, crew work, and directing, in productions like Long Lost Play, The Outsiders, and Love Sick. Veena's dedication to music is evident through her involvement in organizations such as the Tri-M Honors Music Society, the Thespian Honors Society, Glee Club, Jubilee Choir, and Honors Chamber Choir. She has also worked with the Vanguard Theater Company's Broadway Buddy Program and sang in a musical cabaret with Broadway artist Ciara Renée. Thrilled at the opportunity to collaborate with Ferrell Studios as a musical director, Veena is eager to contribute her musical talents and help bring productions to life through captivating music.

Bonnie Terenzi

Bonnie is a 3rd-year dance BFA at Mason Gross School of the Arts where she studies a multitude of different forms including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Musical Theatre, Bollywood, Tahitian, Yorchha, Commercial Dance, Improvisation, and Hip Hop. At Mason Gross, she has had the opportunity to work with choreographers like John Evans, Julia M. Ritter, Alfdaniels Mabingo, Luis Lara Malvacías and Beth Gills. She was also accepted into the Rutgers Graduate School of Education where she will earn her Master's in Dance Education. Originally from Southern California, Bonnie has been dancing since she was 3 years old, and trained at Stagelight Performing Arts, the Martha Graham Studio, and the Anaheim Ballet Studio. She has served as a choreographer for over 8 years working on everything from Musical Theatre productions to Dance showcases to Choral choreography at her Alma Mater in Placentia, CA. While attending Rutgers, Bonnie works as the manager of marketing and events for Modern Motion Dance School in Somerset, NJ. She is a member of multiple different societies and organizations including serving as the president for the Mason Gross Chapter of the National Honors Society for Dance Arts and as the President of the International Thespian Society Troupe #199.

Valerie Myers, Summer Metuchen NJ Musical Theater Camp Teaching Artist

Valerie Myers

Valerie is a senior at Rutgers University studying Elementary Education with a major in psychology and a minor in theater. She is excited to be making her debut with Ferrell Studios. Previous theater credits include Pippin (Fastrada), Hair (ensemble), Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella: Enchanted Edition (ensemble), Sweet Charity (Carmen), & RENT: School Edition (Maureen).
